The fifth version of the Colombian Congress and International Conference on Air Quality and Public Health (CASAP 2015) will be held in the city of Bucaramanga, Colombia, after being held in Bogota (2013), Medellin (2011), Cartagena (2009) and Manizales (2007). Notice is given to the technical and scientific community, members of corporations and entities responsible for ensuring environmental and health conditions, as well as to decision makers and interested citizens in these issues to participate in the fourth edition of this event with their work in the form of oral presentations and posters.
On the fifth edition of the event, plenary lectures will be offered by national and international experts in areas of air quality modeling, intramural air quality, sampling and characterization of atmospherics pollutants, air quality and public health management, urban planning, emissions inventories and chemical and physics characteristics of atmospherics aerosols. This represent a big opportunity to know the actual state of studies, advances and investigations concerning to air quality and public health. Simultaneously will be realized topics sessions about all themes before mentioned by students, teachers and investigators representing universities, investigation centers, public and private companies that work on benefit to improve conditions of air quality and public health around the world.
The V CASAP will be done with the II CMAS (Community Modeling & Analysis System) South America, the conference of the Air Quality Modeling Center of the United States that search expand the use of air quality modeling tools in all continent. The first version of CMAS South America was in Brazil in 2013.
The US EPA contracted the Center for Environmental Modeling for Policy Development (CEMPD) through the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) Institute for the Environment (IE) to establish a Community Modeling and Analysis System (CMAS) for supporting community-based air quality modeling. CMAS is an approach to the development, application, and analysis of environmental models that leverages the complementary talents and resources of the modeling community in order to set new standards for quality in science and in the reliability of the application of the technology.
CEMPD developed a resource in the CMAS Center to distribute the features of CMAS to the global modeling community. From research to application to outreach, the goal of the CMAS Center is to advance the community modeling paradigm through the establishment of a centralized resource to serve the members of the environmental modeling community.
